Difference between Cheap & Thrifty

I’ve been to airports, restaurants and homes around the world and today I’d like to dedicate the blog to the difference between cheap & thrifty (IN MY OPINION):

STEALING INTERNET: If you only use it occasionally then I would say thrifty. If you work depends on it and you are losing productivity due to an unstable connection and you work harder as a result then you are CHEAP!

IF YOU ARE REGULARLY TAKING HANDFULS OF STARBUCKS SUGAR: this one is easy – you are cheap. Go pay a couple of bucks for sugar for your home.

HOTEL SAMPLES OF SHAMPOO/CONDITIONER: Unless you travel a lot & rely on them, this is downright cheap. Your scalp hates you probably b/c the product is probably cheap too.

YOU USE COUPONS: Nothing wrong with this – this is the definition of thrifty.

YOU KEEP MCDONALDS NAPKINS: this is the best way to advertise you are cheap to your guests at the house. Now, if you keep them in your glovebox only – then this is thrifty.

YOU HOPE YOUR WAITER SCREWS UP SO YOU CAN STIFF HIM: cheap.

YOU PARK YOUR OWN CAR SO YOU DON’T HAVE TO PAY VALET: thrifty.

YOU BRING YOUR OWN CANDY TO MOVIE THEATRES: I think that this is being thrifty – their prices are a rip off.

YOU DON’T USE A/C AND SWEAT YOUR ASS OFF IN ORDER TO SAVE MONEY AT THE PUMP: you are cheap b/c this is pretty much a myth.

YOU HAGGLE AT THE CAR DEALERSHIP: this is being thrifty, and smart.

My rule of thumb pretty much is that if you can find a way to save money without reducing the quality of your life in the process then you are probably being thrifty. If you are constantly wasting time, reducing the quality of your life, or changing your plans in order to save a small amount of money that will not make an impact on your life whatsoever then guess what folks: YOU ARE CHEAP!
